Marley Shelton was born in Los Angeles on April 12, 1974. Her father Christopher is a commercial producer as well as director, and her mother Carol, used to be a singer. She graduated from the Eagle Rock High School, and has three sisters Erin, Koren, and Samantha. Marley Shelton was her school’s cheerleading squad, and was voted Prom Queen. Before she started acting, she worked at clothing stores Wet Seal and Contempo Casual. Marley Shelton graduated college from the University of California.

Marley Shelton’s debut as an actress was for a 1991 film, Grand Canyon. She also did a few appearances in television shows, including Family Matters, Angel Falls, Bodies of Evidence, and Camp Wilder. Her following movie was The Sandlot, where she played a lifeguard who caught the hearts of young boys. Marley Shelton started to get acclaim and recognition for her acting when she starred in the biopic Nixon in 1995, where she played the daughter of the former American president. She then started to do many more movies, including the 1997 fantasy movie Warriors of Virtue, Trojan War, Lured Innocence, and Pleasantville. Her roster of films has proven her versatility as an actress.

Marley Shelton then had a series of teenage movies, proving to be a favorite among the young audiences. Her most popular teenage movie was the romantic comedy Never Been Kissed, followed by Sugar and Spice where she plays a cheerleader who becomes pregnant and together with her friends conspires to do a bank robbery in order to support her child. Marley Shelton portrayed a variety of roles in her succeeding films, including Bubble Boy, Just a Kiss, Moving Allan (where she starred with her sister Samantha who is also an actress and which was directed by their father), and opposite Brittany Murphy in Uptown Girls.
